For the last several years, BPG Management Company – NC, LLC has been working with the National Kidney Foundation to raise awareness about kidney disease. Here is the story behind our dedication to this cause:

By: Arthur P. Pasquarella, CRE®, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, EQUUS CAPITAL PARTNERS, LTD.
My dad suffered from polycystic kidney disease which by the time he reached his late 60’s caused him to be on dialysis for 2 years. He was very fortunate to receive a deceased donor kidney transplant at the age of 70 and lived a very healthy and productive life till he died in his 80’s. He was still working full time about a year before his death (which had nothing to do with his transplanted kidney which worked very well all through the end of his life). My oldest brother suffered from a different very serious kidney ailment than my dad and in 2010 I donated one of my kidneys to him. Both he and I are doing very well. I found the donation experience to be very positive physically and mentally. I (like others who have also donated a kidney have told me) — would do it all over again.

In honor of my father, in 2006 I joined the Philadelphia board of the National Kidney Foundation and became chair of that divisional board in 2010. I subsequently was elected to the national board of directors of the NKF in 2012 and am currently serving as the 2016-2018 national board chair. The National Kidney Foundation is the leading organization in the U.S. dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease for hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals, millions of patients and their families, and tens of millions of Americans at risk. A tremendous amount of information about various forms of kidney disease, identification, treatments including diet, medication, education and transplantation is available on the NKF website … www.kidney.org
